A few weeks ago SS Customs took in a 2016 Mercedes Benz G550 G Wagon to perform a major paint correction detailing. G Wagons are notoriously hard to work with because of the sharp edges on the body and the many different parts involved in a full vehicle disassembly.
After further deliberation, our client decided to install a Ceramic Pro Silver package, which includes a 3-year manufacturer warranty. *Contrary to what is listed on Ceramic Pro USA’s website, the Silver Plus Package is what comes with a 5-year manufacturer warranty. The difference breaks down to how many coats of the different Ceramic Pro products are applied, with more coats increasing the longevity of the ceramic coating. Our licensed Ceramic Pro Technician, Orkhan, applied one coat of Ceramic Pro 9H and one coat of Ceramic Pro Light with this particular package.
We decided to ask Orkhan, pictured below, to run through just how he performs paint correction detailing and Ceramic Pro ceramic coating installations.

Many clients come to the Bay Area based vehicle enhancement studio to customize their luxury, exotic and electric vehicles. Ceramic Coatings can be applied on top of usual vehicle customizations like color change vinyl wraps, which in theory, can increase the longevity of the car vinyl wrap underneath. Think about a ceramic coating as an additional clear coat on your vehicle that is up to three times as hard, and up to 25% more durable. Ceramic coatings are also hydrophobic; repelling water, bird droppings, and tree sap with increased effectiveness. They can also be applied to the vehicle’s glass faces, interior, and wheel face, barrel, and brake calipers.
What is Ceramic Pro?
Ceramic Pro is a multi-layerable, clear, liquid nano-ceramic coating. When cured, this technology will transform itself on the surface to a permanent, durable yet flexible glass shield. Ceramic Pro can be described as an additional clear coat, with 3 times the hardness and self-cleaning properties.
Does Auto Ceramic Coating Work?
By adding a layer of Ceramic Coating to your paint, you can dramatically reduce the oxidation. Ceramic coatings or nano coatings if you will, works much harder at protecting the surface of your vehicle than an ordinary paint job.
When to wash car after Ceramic Coating?
Ceramic Pro is extremely slick, this means most things will dissolve and be pulled off by Ceramic Pro’s self-cleaning effect. Minimizing rubbing, (especially with a dry towel) on the coating will ensure its longevity. Dry bird droppings, bugs, and tree sap can be dissolved using alcohol type solvents and wiped off with a damp microfiber towel.
