The Tesla Model Y is an electric compact crossover utility vehicle (CUV) by Tesla, Inc. Tesla unveiled it in March 2019, started production at its Fremont plant in January 2020, and started deliveries on March 13, 2020.
It is the second vehicle based on the Model 3 sedan platform. The Model Y shares an estimated 75% of its parts with the Tesla Model 3, which includes a similar interior design and electric powertrain.
Model Y will offer optional third-row seats for a seven-passenger seating capacity, currently planned for sometime in early 2021. The Model Y fills a smaller size segment from its bigger sibling, the mid-sized Tesla Model X.
There were four planned powertrain configurations for the Model Y: Standard Range Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive, Long Range with Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD), and Performance (with Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive).
The Long Range AWD model and the Performance model are currently being delivered. The Standard Range RWD configuration was canceled in early July 2020, due to the range being unacceptably low to Musk.
Changing the color of the rims can help to really change up the look of the vehicle. You can go for a subtle change like gloss or satin black, maybe matching a chrome delete. Or do something more drastic like adding a pop of color or matching the wheels to body color.
Powder coating is a durable finish to your wheels that is similar to their original coating. Paint would easily chip and become damaged from everyday wear and tear.
You want to make sure that your wheels are getting a powder coat to heal any existing aesthetic issues, and add an additional level of protection from dirt and contaminants.
Tesla is bringing its chrome delete design first introduced with the Model Y to the Model 3, based on a new application in China.
On the Model 3, Tesla put chrome on the trim around the windows, on the Autopilot cameras, and on the door handles. Some owners would wrap the trim with a darker color to create what’s called a “chrome delete.”
Surprisingly, when bringing the Model Y to production, Tesla made the chrome delete standard on the electric CUV, which is based on the Model 3. Now it looks like Tesla is bringing the same design to Model 3.
The automaker applied to the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for a new version of the made-in-China Model 3, with the only apparent change being the chrome delete.
We still offer chrome delete services for vehicles that don’t come with a factory chrome delete like the Tesla Model Y but keep in mind that black is not the only color you can use to delete the traditionally chrome portions of your vehicle.
Some clients will choose a color to match the color of their paint or different color change vinyl wrap. Sometimes our clients like us to change the color of the door handles and sensors to be the same color as their paint or vehicle vinyl wrap.
